    Investigation Continues After Largo Crash

An investigation remains underway following a tragic multi-vehicle collision in Largo that claimed three lives and left others injured. According to Largo Police Chief Mike Loux, University of Miami linebacker Adarius Hayes was driving a Dodge Durango involved in the crash. The seriousness of the situation has underscored the need for accountability and safe driving practices—something our Largo, FL car accident lawyer sees too often when handling similar cases.

Authorities reported that the other vehicle, a Kia Soul, was driven by 78-year-old Gail Price. Her partner, Herbert Rivera, and two young children, Jabari Solomon and Charlie Rivera, were also in the car. Tragically, both children lost their lives, and Rivera remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Hayes and a passenger in his car were treated and later released.

Police confirmed that neither driver showed signs of impairment. However, the investigation continues, focusing on factors such as speed, seatbelt use, and the condition of the vehicles. Chief Loux noted that dash and traffic camera footage, as well as witness statements, will be critical to determining the final cause. He emphasized that it may take several weeks before deciding whether any charges will be filed.

FOX 13 reported that Hayes had received several traffic citations earlier this year, including two speeding tickets in March. Records show that he was cited for driving 80 mph in a 45 mph zone and 84 mph in a 55 mph zone. His license was briefly suspended in 2023 after a separate incident involving careless driving. These prior violations may be considered as investigators assess the circumstances surrounding the latest crash.

Residents who live near the crash site described the incident as violent and unforgettable. One neighbor shared that the impact was so strong it caused nearby homes to shake. In the days following, community members have placed teddy bears and balloons at the site to honor those affected, offering prayers and condolences to the grieving families.
