2-vehicle crash involving semi kills 1 on I-75 in Riverview

RIVERVIEW, FL – A 31-year-old man died when his SUV collided with an 18-wheeler on the interstate in Riverview early Friday morning, reports WFLA News 8.

The incident happened just after 3 a.m. on the southbound side of I-75 near Big Bend Road.

The investigation indicates that the driver of a tractor-trailer slowed on the interstate when he saw a car hauler catch fire nearby. An SUV failed to slow down in time and rear-ended the semi-truck.

The driver of the SUV died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The truck driver did not suffer injuries in the collision.

It is unclear what caused the car hauler to ignite.
