Woman in wheelchair struck, killed by car in N Pinellas Co.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL – A female pedestrian in a wheelchair died Wednesday when she was hit by a car while attempting to cross US-41 in Tarpon Springs, reports 10 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened around 12:31 p.m. on the northbound side of US-41, just northwest of Salmons Bay.

The investigation suggests that the woman entered the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk. A northbound Jeep collided with the woman in her wheelchair.

Medics performed CPR at the scene, but the woman died after transport to Advent Health of North Pinellas.

A full investigation is underway, but police to not plan to bring charges against the driver of the Jeep, as no laws were broken.
