Vehicle vs. pedestrian crash kills 1 in Sarasota Co.

SARASOTA, FL – A car struck and killed a pedestrian near a busy intersection in Sarasota on Monday morning, reports WFLA News 8.

The incident happened just before 11 a.m. near the intersection of 9th Street East and East Avenue, which is just east of Washington Boulevard and north of Shenandoah Park.

Police have not released many details regarding the crash. They say the victim was a 23-year-old woman.

Medics transported the woman to a local hospital, where she died from injuries sustained in the crash.

It is unclear at this time if the vehicle involved stayed at the scene of the accident. A full investigation is underway.
