Teen struck, killed while crossing street in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, FL – A 15-year-old boy was killed in Clearwater early this morning when a car struck him while he crossed the street, reports abc Action News.

Police say the incident happened around 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of Belleair Road and South Haven Drive, which is just west of US-19.

It was still dark when the teen entered the roadway, and a sedan struck him. The high school student from Largo died at the scene of the accident.

Law enforcement has not released the identify of the driver, but says she is a 60-year-old woman from Tampa. The driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
