Tampa driver hurt after hitting van, driving into pond

TAMPA, FL – A 33-year-old woman went to the hospital Tuesday after her car collided with another vehicle on the interstate before driving into a pond, WFLA News 8.

Police say the incident happened around 7 a.m. on southbound I-75 near the exit for FL-574.

The investigation thus far indicates that the woman’s southbound SUV veered out of the center lane on I-75 and collided with a southbound cargo van. The SUV then ran off of the roadway and landed in a pond.

There were no other occupants in the SUV at the time of the accident. It’s unclear at this time if the woman sustained serious injuries, but officials say she was transported to Brandon Regional Hospital.

The driver of the cargo van did not suffer injuries in the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
