Single-vehicle crash hospitalizes 1 overnight in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, FL – A 57-year-old woman went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after her car crashed at an intersection in central Pinellas County.

The Free Press reports that the incident happened just after midnight Thursday at the intersection of Court Street and Ewing Avenue.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the woman’s 2011 Cadillac ran off of the road and collided with both an electric pole and a tree.

The force of the collision threw the driver from her vehicle, and she suffered critical injuries.

While police are still investigating the cause of the crash, they think speed may have been a primary factor.
