Single-car crash kills 2 North Port teens on N Sumter Blvd.

NORTH PORT, FL – A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old died Wednesday night when their vehicle crashed into a retention pond in North Port, reports WFLA News 8.

Police say the incident happened around 10 p.m. on North Sumter Boulevard, just north of Lorri Circle and south of I-75.

The investigation indicates that a teen driver lost control of their Honda Accord while speeding on North Sumter Boulevard. The vehicle veered off the roadway and overturned into a retention pond.

Emergency teams declared both teens dead at the scene of the crash.
