Several hurt in multi-vehicle crash on I-75 in Riverview

RIVERVIEW, FL – Multiple people sustained injuries in an accident involving six vehicles on the interstate in central Hillsborough County Saturday morning, reports WFTS abc Action News.

Police say the incident happened around 5:15 a.m. on the southbound side of I-75 near the Gibsonton exit.

The investigation thus far indicates that two cars initially collided, causing a pile-up with additional vehicles. An RV camper veered into the shoulder to avoid the wreck, hitting a stopped car. The RV then overturned in the median.

Authorities say that many people were hospitalized following the crash, though the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

A full investigation regarding the cause of the accident is underway.
