Pedestrian killed in Tampa hit-and-run on Orient Rd

TAMPA, FL –  A male pedestrian died after being hit by two vehicles on a busy roadway in eastern Tampa early Saturday morning, reports WFLA News 8.

Police say the incident happened just after midnight on Orient Road just south of Zeimis Drive, which is just north of East Hillsborough Avenue.

The investigation indicates that the pedestrian was struck while walking in the middle of Orient Road. The driver of the vehicle stopped to render aid, but a second vehicle struck the pedestrian and dragged him southbound before fleeing the scene of the accident.

The pedestrian died after transport to a local hospital.

Authorities are looking for the driver of the second vehicle, which they say is a silver SUV.
