Pedestrian critically injured in Polk Co. hit-and-run

WINTER HAVEN, FL – A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when a vehicle struck him on a roadway in Winter Haven early Monday morning, reports Patch.

Police say the incident happened around 1:10 a.m. near the intersection of Cypress Gardens Boulevard and Old Helena Road.

The preliminary investigation suggests that an eastbound vehicle hit the pedestrian on Cypress Gardens Boulevard before turning right on Old Helena Road and leaving the scene.

Medics airlifted the pedestrian to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities have not yet identified him.
