News: Senior killed in Manatee Co. pedestrian crash on US-41

BRADENTON, FL – A 71-year-old woman from West Melbourne died late Tuesday night after a vehicle struck her on a highway in Bradenton, reports 10 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened just after 11:30 p.m. on the southbound side of 14th Street West, or US-41, just north of 66th Avenue West.

The woman was walking across the southbound lanes of 14th Street West when a vehicle hit her, and she died at the scene.

The 27-year-old driver did not sustain injuries in the accident.

It is unclear why the woman attempted to cross the highway on foot. A full investigation of the incident is underway.
