News: Scooter rider severely hurt in Tampa crash on Bayshore

TAMPA, FL – A young woman went to the hospital Tuesday after a vehicle hit her as she tried to cross a busy road in central Tampa on her scooter, Fox 13 Tampa Bay reports.

Police say the crash happened in the afternoon on Bayshore Boulevard near the intersection with Magnolia Avenue. A vehicle struck the young woman in the southbound lanes of Bayshore Boulevard as she attempted to cross the roadway.

Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with serious injuries. Authorities have been unable to identify her and have released photos of her bracelet and scooter.

The driver of the car that hit the young woman remained on the scene and spoke with police. It is unclear if the driver sustained any injuries.

Police are actively investigating the incident and request that anyone with helpful information contact the Tampa Police Department.
