News: Pedestrian Hit, Killed on U.S. 41 in Bradenton

BRADENTON, FL – A 26-year-old woman died in Manatee County on Tuesday after she tried to cross the Highway 41 on foot and collided with a vehicle, ABC 7 reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 2:15 a.m. just south of Cortez Road. As the pedestrian walked north on U.S. 41, an SUV travelled in the same direction. The two parties collided in the left turn lane.

The pedestrian died after being transported to a local hospital.

Police have identified the driver of the SUV as a 34-year-old woman from Palmetto. It is unclear if she sustained injuries in the accident.

An investigation of the crash is underway.
