News: Motorcyclist killed in Polk Co. hit-and-run
WINTER HAVEN, FL – A 67-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with another vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday evening in Winter Haven.
ABC Action News reports that the accident happened just after 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 542, or K-Ville Avenue, and Thornhill Road.
Authorities are searching for a maroon pick-up truck with a lift kit and possible damage to its front.
They believe that the eastbound pickup truck collided with a westbound motorcycle on K-Ville Avenue when the driver of the pickup truck attempted a left turn onto Thornhill Road. The suspect then continued to drag the motorcyclist for several feet in the roadway before reversing and fleeing the scene.
The motorcyclist died after transport to a local hospital. His injuries included head trauma and multiple broken bones.
