LAKE WALES, FL – A 37-year-old motorcyclist died Friday after his bike collided with three other vehicles on a roadway in Lake Wales, reports Fox 13 Tampa Bay.
The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. on Buck Moore Road near Bel Ombre Circle.
Police say the victim was speeding northbound on Buck Moore Road in a no-passing zone. His white Harley-Davidson struck the rear of a northbound SUV after the motorcyclist attempted to pass in the southbound lane, confronted oncoming traffic, and veered back into the northbound lane.
The force of the collision threw the motorcyclist from his bike, at which point the Harley Davidson continued into the southbound lane and crashed into a 2014 Mazda CX 9 and a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The motorcyclist sustained critical head injuries and died after transport to a local hospital. Authorities identified him as G.W. Sowell.
The other three drivers involved in the accident were unhurt.
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation with law enforcement.
