INDIAN SHORES, FL – A 49-year-old man died Monday night when his motorcycle crashed along a roadway in Indian Shores, 10 Tampa Bay reports.
Police say the incident happened around 9 p.m. on the entrance ramp from Gulf Boulevard to Park Boulevard Bridge, or County Road 694.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle and hit a guardrail after he attempted to merge into slower traffic on the entrance ramp. The force of the collision threw the man from his bike, and he died after transport to a local hospital.
Authorities identified the victim as Ferdinando Abbondante.
Law enforcement is conducting a full investigation of the accident, but they think speed was likely a causative factor.
