News: Cyclist struck, critically hurt in Largo hit-and-run

LARGO, FL – A bicyclist went to the hospital in critical condition after colliding with a vehicle at an intersection in central Pinellas County Thursday, reports Patch.

Police say the incident happened at 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of 142nd Avenue North and Northbound Frontage Road.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the northbound cyclist collided with an SUV as the vehicle turned right from 142nd Avenue North onto Frontage Road. The cyclist had been riding in the bike lane at the time of the crash. The collision caused the cyclist to fall from their bike into the roadway.

The cyclist is undergoing treatment for life-threatening injuries.

The SUV fled the scene of the accident.

A full investigation of the incident is underway.
