News: Cyclist injured in Manatee Co. hit-and-run on I-75 NB

MANATEE CO., FL – A male cyclist went to the hospital with serious injuries Tuesday after a car hit him on the interstate near Parrish before fleeing the scene.

The Herald-Tribune reports that the incident happened at 2:30 a.m. in the right lane of I-75 NB near mile marker 230. This is the stretch of interstate between Buckeye Road and Lightfoot Road.

The investigation thus far suggests that the passenger side of a black or dark-gray car struck the 32-year-old cyclist from Miami. The bicyclist’s current condition is unknown.

Authorities say the car in question will likely have damage to the side mirror and headlamp on the passenger side.

Anyone with information to share about the crash can contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
