News: Body found in Old Tampa Bay of driver from I-275 crash

TAMPA, FL – Authorities are investigating a crash on Howard Frankland Bridge after finding the body of the driver in the water of Old Tampa Bay on Monday afternoon, 10 Tampa Bay reports.

Authorities aren’t sure when the crash happened but say it involved a 2003 Lexus sedan that crashed into a barrier wall on the bridge. State police report that the vehicle may have been found and tagged as early as Sunday.

Law enforcement found the driver’s body in the water on Monday afternoon, at which point they connected him to the crash on I-275. They have identified him as a 21-year-old man from Brandon. Police do not know how the driver ended up in the water.

A full investigation is underway.
