News: 5 injured in Pinellas Park crash involving ambulance

PINELLAS PARK, FL – Three medics, an EMT, and a patient went to the hospital after a car crashed into an ambulance at an intersection in Pinellas Park on Friday.

Fox 13 Tampa Bay reports that the incident happened around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of 118th Avenue North and 49th Street North.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound BMW sedan crashed into a southbound ambulance in the intersection. The force of the collision caused the ambulance to fall onto its side.

The ambulance was transporting a patient in critical condition at the time of the wreck, and the driver had turned on both the lights and the sirens.

All five occupants of the ambulance sustained injuries, for which they were taken to Bayfront Hospital.

The two occupants in the BMW declined medical attention at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation with law enforcement.
