News: 4 injured in Palmetto 2-vehicle crash

PALMETTO, FL – Three people were hospitalized after a collision involving two vehicles in west Manatee County on Monday afternoon, Bradenton Herald reports. 

Police say the accident occurred at 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Roman Road, or 105th Street East.

A northbound sedan struck the left side of a second vehicle as the second vehicle crossed the northbound lane of U.S. 41. The second vehicle had been stopped at the stop sign on Roman Road before proceeding onto U.S. 41. The impact of the collision caused the second vehicle to rotate.

A 69-year-old man from New York drove the first vehicle. He had one passenger, a 67-year-old woman. The female passenger sustained critical injuries and was transported to Blake Hospital. The man sustained minor injuries.

The second vehicle, which had entered U.S. 41 from Roman Road, was driven by a 42-year-old Bradenton man. He had one passenger, a 46-year-old man from Palmetto. Both men went to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
