News: 2-car Lakeland crash kills pedestrian, injures driver

LAKELAND, FL – A 41-year-old pedestrian died Friday night after being struck by one of two vehicles involved in a Lakeland collision, reports Fox 13 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened just after 10 p.m. near the intersection of South Crystal Lake Drive and Lowry Avenue.

A preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound Nissan Rogue collided with a westbound Honda Accord on South Crystal Lake Drive when the driver of the Nissan attempted to turn left on Lowry Avenue. The Honda then ran off the road, hitting a male pedestrian as he staked a garage sale sign along the roadside.

The male pedestrian from Lakeland died at the scene of the crash.

Medics transported the 18-year-old driver of the Honda to the hospital for injuries sustained in the wreck.

The driver and passenger from the Nissan did not require hospitalization.

The accident remains under investigation.
