BARTOW, FL – A 21-year-old man from North Carolina died on Wednesday evening when his vehicle collided with three others on US 17 in Bartow, Patch reports.
Police say the incident happened at 6:10 p.m. near the intersection for State Road 640 when the driver of a northbound Nissan Frontier truck lost control of his vehicle, rotated over the median, and crashed into a southbound 2006 Infiniti G35. The Infiniti then veered into the northbound lane and collided with a commercial dump truck and a jeep.
The driver of the Infiniti died from injuries sustained in the crash, and his passenger suffered non-critical injuries.
It is unclear if the occupants of the Jeep or the dump truck sustained injuries.
The driver of the Nissan Frontier truck left the scene of the crash, but police identified the vehicle after watching dash cam footage provided by the dump truck driver.
Authorities identified the driver of the Nissan as Edy Juarez Granados. They located Granados in Plant City and arrested him on several counts, including leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving without a valid license.
