News: 1 Dead, 2 hurt in high-speed rollover crash in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A passenger has died after a rollover crash that happened almost two weeks ago in south Pinellas County, Tampa Free Press reports.

The accident happened at 2:05 a.m. on May 22nd when a silver Toyota Corolla sped westbound on 54th Avenue South before colliding with the north curb line of the road, overturning, and hitting a tree.

Police say the accident likely happened because the vehicle was travelling at such a high speed.

Three passengers were seriously hurt in the crash and were taken to local hospitals. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Several days later, on May 28th, one of those passengers died from their injuries. Officials have identified that passenger as 22-year-old Jacolyn Spradley.

An investigation of the incident is ongoing.
