BRADENTON, FL – Four people went to the hospital Friday morning after four vehicles collided along the highway in Bradenton, reports WWSB abc7.
Police say the incident happened around 6 a.m. at the intersection of US-41, or 14th Street West, and Cortez Road West.
The preliminary investigation suggests that a northbound Cadillac on US-41 ran a red light at the Cortez Road intersection and collided with an eastbound SUV. The Cadillac then hit another car in the left turn lane of Cortez Road, causing that vehicle to hit a fourth vehicle in the adjacent lane.
The driver of the SUV was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The other three drivers sustained minor injuries.
Police issued a citation to the 27-year-old driver of the Cadillac for driving with a suspended or revoked license and for running a red light.
A full investigation of the incident is underway.
