Motorcyclist struck, hurt in St. Pete hit-and-run on Central

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A 21-year-old motorcyclist went to the hospital Saturday after being struck by a sedan on a busy roadway in south Pinellas County, reports 10 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened at 11 a.m. on the eastbound side of Central Avenue, which is between 1st Avenue North and 1st Avenue South.

The investigation thus far suggests that the car veered into the motorcycle on Central Avenue, which caused the motorcycle to travel onto the westbound side of the road. At this point, the motorcycle crashed head-on with a second car.

Medics transported the motorcyclist to the hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the first car fled the scene of the crash. Authorities say they are looking for a white Lincoln Mercury sedan in connection with the incident.
