TAMPA, FL – Authorities arrested a driver Thursday after he hit a police vehicle on the highway in Tampa, fled the scene, and ultimately failed sobriety tests, reports WFLA News 8.
Police say the incident happened at 3:45 a.m. on US-92 near SR-685.
The investigation thus far suggests that a Nissan Altima rear-ended a police vehicle that was parked in a closed lane. The driver of the Altima fled the scene but was pulled over on South Dale Mabry Highway near Henderson Boulevard.
Authorities arrested the driver, identified as 29-year-old Matthew Brogie, for leaving the scene of a car accident and for driving under the influence.
Neither Brogie nor anyone from the police vehicle was hurt.
