Driver’s condition unknown after fiery crash on Selmon Expy

TAMPA, FL – It is unknown if a 25-year-old driver sustained injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on a busy roadway in Tampa, reports WFLA News 8.

Police say the incident happened at 2:40 a.m. in the Hyde Park area near the Platt Street overpass of the Selmon Expressway.

The preliminary investigation suggests that a driver lost control of his Mazda sedan near the overpass, at which point the vehicle collided with a concrete barrier and a guardrail before igniting on the eastbound side of the road.

Authorities say the driver was able to exit the vehicle before the fire started, but it is unknown if he was hurt.

A full investigation is underway.
