Driver arrested after fatally striking cyclist in Pinellas Park

PINELLAS, PARK, FL – A man is facing a number of charges after fatally striking a bicyclist in Pinellas Park early yesterday.

According to a report by WFLA, the cyclist was hit while riding in the area of 62nd Avenue North. The vehicle then continued down the road before breaking down a short distance away.

The driver, 29-year-old Nicholas Carusotti, attempted to flee on foot, but was picked up by police a short time later. He is currently facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and DUI manslaughter.

The identity of the cyclist is not mentioned in the report.
