Cyclist hospitalized after collision with car in Tampa

TAMPA, FL – A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after colliding with a vehicle on a busy roadway in Tampa on Friday afternoon, reports 10 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened just before 4 p.m. in front of University Mall on the westbound side of East Fowler Avenue.

Medics transported the cyclist to the hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain injuries in the accident and remained at the scene to speak with police and first responders.

Authorities have not yet spoken about how the collision happened, but they say impairment was likely not a factor.
