Car lands in Tampa Bay after 2-vehicle crash on Gandy Blvd

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A driver sustained non-critical injuries Friday when his vehicle fell into Tampa Bay after a two-car collision on the bridge, reports 10 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on the Gandy Bridge in St. Petersburg.

The full circumstances of the crash are unknown, but authorities have shared that two cars collided as they neared the bridge and that one of the cars flew off of the roadway and landed in the water.

The driver of the car that fell into Tampa Bay succeeded in exiting the vehicle. Medics transported him to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The other driver did not sustain injuries in the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
