Car hits Sarasota house, killing 1 and injuring 5

SARASOTA, FL – A woman died, and five other women were hurt when a 29-year-old Sarasota man drove into the side of a house Friday night in Bellevue Terrace, reports WFLA News 8.

Police say the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. at a house on Courtland Street, which is between South Tuttle Avenue and South Beneva Road.

The vehicle crashed into the garage of the home, killing a woman inside at the scene of the crash.

Medics transported three other women to the hospital with injuries caused by the crash. Two other women suffered minor injuries and did not go to the hospital.

Authorities arrested the driver on multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and no valid drivers license. They identified the driver as Jorge Luis Williams Denis.

A full investigation of the incident is underway.
