8 injured in Brandon multi-car crash caused by mud spill
BRANDON, FL – Eight people went to the hospital Wednesday when several cars collided on the interstate in Brandon after a truck spilled mud on the roadway, reports WFLA News 8.
Police say the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on the southbound on ramp to I-75 from State Road 60. The accident also involved the interchange for US-301.
The investigation thus far indicates that a truck accidentally dropped wet soil from its bed onto the roadway, creating a slick surface. Several vehicles slid on the road, colliding with each other.
It is unclear how many cars total were impacted, but authorities say that eight people were injured.
A full investigation of the incident is underway.
