SARASOTA, FL – A 39-year-old man died Sunday morning, and three others sustained injuries when two pickup trucks collided on a highway in Sarasota, reports WFLA News 8.
Police say the incident happened around 2:35 a.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Braden Avenue, which is just north of the University of Florida Sarasota-Manatee Campus.
The investigation indicates that a pickup truck was struck by a second pickup truck while attempting to turn left at the intersection.
The passenger from the first pickup truck died from his injuries after transport to a local hospital.
Medics also transported the driver of the first pickup truck to the hospital, as he sustained serious injuries in the crash.
Police arrested the driver of the second pickup truck, identified as 41-year-old Fernando Buenavista-Gomez on charges of DUI and driving with a suspended license.
Both Buenavista-Gomez and his adult passenger sustained minor injuries in the wreck.
