2 rescued after car crashes into Pinellas Co. pond

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Two people were rescued Thursday evening when their vehicle crashed into a pond in northern St. Petersburg, reports WFLA News 8.

Police say the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. in the area of Ulmerton Road and Feather Sound Drive.

It’s unclear how the crash happened, but authorities say a car carrying two people veered from the roadway and landed in a pond.

An off-duty police officer and a paramedic entered the water and rescued the driver and passenger.

Neither person sustained injuries in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
