1 injured in pickup vs. crane collision in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A man was hospitalized Tuesday with serious injuries after his pickup crashed into a crane at a construction site in south Pinellas County, reports Fox 13 Tampa Bay.

Police say the incident happened in the area of I-275 and Fourth Street at the construction site near the Howard Frankland Bridge.

The preliminary investigation suggests that for unknown reasons, the driver of the pickup truck crashed into a concrete finishing machine and a car at the construction site before colliding with a crane.

Medics transported the driver of the pickup truck to the hospital in critical condition.

The crane operator sustained only minor injuries in the accident.

A full investigation of the crash is underway.
