News: Motorcyclist ejected, killed in Palmetto 2-car crash

PALMETTO, FL – A 53-year-old man died Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a van on US-41 in west Manatee County, 10 Tampa Bay reports.

Police say the crash happened at 4:55 p.m. south of 43rd Street on US 41 southbound.

For unknown reasons, the biker veered left into the median and struck a yield sign. He then crashed into the right side of a van after re-entering the roadway. The collision occurred as the driver of the van tried to make a U-turn from northbound to southbound US 41.

The impact of the collision ejected the motorcyclist from his bike, and he died at the scene.

It is unclear if the driver of the van suffered injuries in the wreck.

An investigation is underway.
